Brooke Campbell: Music
Arms of the Atlantic
(Brooke Campbell)
He's right there
If I run, I could catch him, but I'm stuck
In mid-air
Suspended in his direction
My heart bare
Come and pluck me from this picture where I'm frozen
Let me thaw in your hand
I might still be human when it's over
Have a chance
He's so scared
And I know it
But he won't open
He's locked down
And I'm here
With my ribs pulled back before him
He won't dare
But, I am over with my sun not being noticed
I've a life to lead
So I go as though I never hoped to promise
And I bleed and bleed and bleed
It's not like we were just going on nothing
There were signs
Good and bad, I guess,
Maybe we should have known better, but i can't see how.
There were fireworks
There was champagne toasting
There was slow dancing
Even romance
But the party's over
The party's done, but one last glance...
So, O.K.
We drive off to either ocean and we cry
In silent cars
Done with hoping
We tried
So I sink into the arms of the Atlantic
With a weight on my feet
And as the water comes
I don't even panic
How much worse could it be?
